COULD FLORIDA BE NEXT?
Florida could become the next state to legalize medical marijuana—but only if organizers collect over 683,000 validated signatures by the end of the month.
20 states, plus the District of Columbia have some form of medical marijuana legislation on the books.
Marijuana has been shown in medical studies to provide relief from many serious conditions and symptoms, including cancer and MS, to epilepsy, AIDS and numerous others.
Why We Should Care
85% of Americans think that adults should “be allowed to use marijuana for medical purposes if a physician prescribes it,” according to a May 2013 nationwide Fox News poll.
“There are a lot of people suffering that don’t even think about marijuana as a treatment because of its illegality,” says Ben Pollara, campaign manager for United for Care.
Our Time Opinion
Regardless, whether you support it or not, voters should be allowed the opportunity to choose for themselves come November, 2014. If you live in Florida, you can read more about the petition here.
