More Americans are moving away from organized religion and one –third of Millennials say they don’t belong to any religion.
In an interview with NPR, one young American questioned the authenticity of the religious stories he grew up with, another didn’t see the necessity in believing in God in order to take part in religious traditions, while others found it hard to put faith in prayer when they saw tragedy happening around them.
WHY WE SHOULD CARE
This is the first time in recent U.S. history that the number of religiously unaffiliated Americans has reached this level.
As Millennials age, their beliefs could possibly change the role that religion plays in society.
OUR TIME OPINION
