  • A recent study done at the University of St Andrews found that there is still a negative stigma attached to tattoos, especially in the workplace.

  • Though 1 in 5 people have a tattoo in the UK, a broad range of employers were worried that people with such body art would be considered “dirty,” “thugs,” and “abhorrent.”

  • However, this intolerance for tattoos is most prevalent in older demographics.

Why we should care

  • Millennials are most likely to have tattoos, according to the Pew Research Center.  Roughly 40 percent of our generation has one.

Our opinion

  • Better cover up your tattoos if you’re interviewing for a job with a non-millennial boss!  In the meantime, let’s work to reduce to stigma of having them…
