THE FACTS

  • Tennessee, Kansas, Wisconsin, Ohio, Georgia, Indiana and Pennsylvaniaall have new voter ID laws.

  • Valid forms of photo identification include driver’s licenses,
military IDs, college IDs, local or county government employee IDs and
photo IDs from state care facilities. IDs will only be accepted if
they do have expiration dates, therefore discounting college IDs.

  • Voter ID laws are often justified on the basis that they prevent voter
fraud, but recent evidence has proven that voter fraud occurs with
only 0.0000028% of the population since 2000, roughly 13 documented
    cases.

Why We Care

  • These voting ID laws affect young Americans, the poor, and the elderly
more so than any other demographic.

  • In Pennsylvania alone, it is estimated that voter ID provisions will
affect 9.8% of the population– roughly- 758,000 people.

Our Opinion

We should be opening up our democracy to more citizens, not closing
it. Voter ID laws are a solution in search of an exceedingly rare
problem.
