OUR TIME DAILY TRANSLATION
We've heard you say it many times: "Politics is like a foreign language." Well, we agree.
Each week, we summarize, simplify, and interpret different major news stories and how they affect our generation. We'll give you our take, and you can decide for yourself.
NATIONAL SERVICE CORPS?
THE FACTS
With tuition becoming increasingly expensive, and student loan debt often becoming a burden for life, the idea of a National Service Corp is gaining ground as a possible solution.
The premise is simple: at age 18, you serve the nation for at least two years. In return, America underwrites your education at a four-year public university or technical school.
Your contribution can be in the form of military service, infrastructure improvement or community building.
WHY WE SHOULD CARE
A National Service Corps could remove the financial barriers and burdens of education that currently exist, while providing a boost to our economy by nurturing productivity and infrastructure enhancements.
OUR TIME OPINION
Our generation needs a permanent and lasting solution to the ever-increasing cost of education. A National Service Corps could provide exactly that, while simultaneously helping our nation to address many of the problems we’re facing.
