If you need something that can replace your common blinds or curtains that currently adorn your window, consider roller shades.
Blinds and curtains can only do so much when preventing too much sunlight from entering your home. Roller shades can either darken a room or filter sunlight to where just the right amount of light comes into the home.
If you are interested in roller shades that can darken a room with its darker shades, or filter the light of a room with its lighter shades, you'll get a lot of value out of Chicology's roller shades. The different colors of the shades will determine whether it will filter or darken a room. This kind of variety is rare for roller shades.
Allowing one of the slimmest light gaps that are only shorter by about half an inch on either side, your room is guaranteed to be dark no matter how bright it is outside when Chicology's shades are pulled down.
You will not need to worry about cutting the shade when it arrives, either. Chicology's shades are pre-cut to a half inch deduction. This is great if you are new at installing roller shades, and is even a convenience if you are experienced at it.
The sizes of Chicology's roller shades are variable, and you will need to know the exact dimensions of the window that you need these shades for. The sizes are not fixed, and those who are new to installing roller shades may have some difficulty in finding the exact size of the windows they need these roller shades for.
As useful as roller shades can be, it can be a little difficult to find them in a diverse array of colors and shades. Windows and Garden's roller shades come in more colors than most other roller shade manufacturers, and they look very impressive as well. This is a good thing, as most roller shades can appear plain looking.
There is also no confusion with the light filtering or light darkening effects. Windows and Garden's roller shades act according to their color: If they are brighter, they will create a filtering effect. If they are dark, they will create a darkening effect. You won't need to worry about checking to see what effects different roller shades have.
If you are unsure about the size of roller shades you need, have no worries. If you are close with your measurements, your roller shades will be customized to fit the window. This is something that sets Windows and Garden apart with their roller shades. Very few others do this.
Do not expect a room to be completely darkened by Windows and Garden's roller shades. Because of the fabric it uses, they lend themselves more to light filtering rather than room darkening.
The brackets of Windows and Garden's roller shades also tend to stand out. On an inside mount, they will take up ½ an inch when facing outside, which will create a pretty significant gap on the inside on each side. This can take away from the aesthetics of the window that Windows and Garden's roller shades are installed in.
Roller shades aren't just for darkening or providing a light filter. Sometimes you might need a roller shade to block out the sun entirely on your porch.
For something like this, Keystone's roller shade is ideal. Being 6 by 6 feet, hanging this outside of your porch will prevent the interior of your home by being blasted by the sun's rays when you do not it to be. If your home is in a wide open space where the sunlight is too overwhelming even for darkening window shades, consider Keystone's sun shade.
Keystone's roller shade installs on the outside of the windows in your home, which is a good thing if you have a lot going on inside the home. If you have pets who like to get curious and climb up curtains, you'll benefit from Keystone's roller shade.
The fact that Keystone's roller shade installs on the outside of the window does lend itself to some precautions, however. If you live in a place that is very humid and is home to a lot of insects, you'll need to constantly check for them growing on the roller shades.
There are also not a lot of color options with Keystone's roller shades. They are not very impressive looking, as they are more functional in nature. If you are looking for roller shades that will look nice while also preventing too much sunlight from entering your home, you'll want to probably look for interior roller shades, as they will look a little better.
Also, Keystone's roller shade is bound by a cord. This can make rolling it up pretty troublesome and inconvenient.
There are two things that are in demand when it comes to larger roller shades that are designed to be installed outside. These things are UV protection and safe and hassle free operation. A lot of roller shades such as Coolaroo's are bound by a cord which can make them difficult to use, and they are also not dark enough to provide optimal UV protection.
Coolaroo's roller shade solves both of these issues. The shades offer up to 90% UV protection, which is very useful for homes that are exposed to a more than normal amount of sunlight. Install Coolaroo's roller shade outside and you will not be disappointed with how much sunlight it protects from. It is also cordless, making it much easier to operate.
The terracotta color of Coolaroo's roller shade looks much better than other roller shades of its kind. It blends in nicely with the exterior of nearly any home and does not stand out like other colors of shades would. The fabric is also made of a weather resistant material that will resist outside elements that can cause damage by mold or mildew.
Terracotta is the only color that Coolaroo's roller shade comes in, and this can be a turnoff for anybody who wants a different color for their roller shade. If you do decide to get Coolaroo's roller shade, you'll need to accept that it's only available in terracotta.
The problem with a lot of roller shades is that although they are designed to prevent some light from entering a room, there are some situations where this is not enough.
Some situations call for rooms to be completely darkened and not partially darkened, and that is exactly what Acholo's roller shades are for. Coming in pitch black with a layer that ensures the blackout effect, Acholo's shades are perfect for making any room completely dark no matter what time of day it is and no matter how intense the outside sunlight is.
Acholo's roller shades can be mounted inside or outside, which also makes them versatile. This lets you mount them wherever you want. For maximum light reflection, mount Acholo's roller shades outside. This will not only guarantee that the room will be completely dark but will also prevent most heat from entering the room.
Because Acholo's roller shades are blackout shades, they are literally only available in black. This makes them one-dimensional in their function as well as their aesthetics. You'll need to look elsewhere if you want roller shades that filter light or provide a different effect.
While most other roller shades are available in any size, Acholo's shades are not available in any size. You'll need to find out exactly what size your window is just to see if they are available for your size of window.
Exterior roller shades are particularly useful if your home is exposed to sunlight on a regular basis. Some of the best exterior roller shades can reflect up to 90% of UV rays from the sun which can insulate your home from the sun's heat.
Find out what kind of roller shades you need and consider replacing your blinds or curtains with them. You'll be glad you did.
