LGBT Equality in Focus: From Michael Sams’ Kiss to Speaker Boehner on ENDA

George Takei, Trans-activist Janet Mock and Republican Political Commentator Margaret Hoover on “OurTime with Matthew Segal”

WASHINGTON, DC – “OurTime with Matthew Segal” on SiriusXM P.O.T.U.S. this weekend will take a look at lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality in America.  This week’s show, scheduled to air Saturday at 2:00 pm (ET) on SiriusXM’s P.O.T.U.S. station, will examine the hottest LGBT issues in the news from three different perspectives.

Famed Star Trek actor and social media powerhouse George Takei kicks-off the show with a discussion around the recent news regarding Michael Sams’ “kiss heard ‘round the world”.  “It’s the most natural thing if a straight football player, with his girlfriend or his wife, found that he had been drafted to an NFL team.  He would have kissed and hugged his girlfriend or his wife.”  You can hear a clip of Takei’s interview on “OurTime with Matthew Segal”, here.

Trans-activist and New York Times best-selling author Janet Mock takes on the “hysteria” we have around bathrooms in America.  “It’s interesting to me that we always come back to the restroom and toilet use.”  You can hear a clip of Mock’s interview, here.

Republican political commentator Margaret Hoover answers questions about Speaker John Boehner’s comments that the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) is “off the table”.  Hoover agrees that the comments are “out of touch” stating that if there are enough votes to pass ENDA in the U.S. House Boehner “may not have a choice”.  Here a clip of Hoover’s comments, here.
