Of the Millennials who brave the crowds on Black Friday to catch the big sales, 71.5 percent of them will partake in self-gifting.
According to Time magazine, young shoppers are more likely to purchases items for themselves because they have fewer people to shop for and are more likely to “reward” themselves through self-gifting.
Even though many Millennials are un- or underemployed and are likely to have student debt, they are still anticipated to turnout in high volumes today.
WHY WE SHOULD CARE
While some may look at this practice as selfish, psychologists have noted that because society has placed a stronger emphasis on caring about oneself, self-gifting comes more naturally to our generation.
OUR TIME OPINION
